ReplyDeleteThis is a tough choice because they are both great topics for Essay 1. I guess the real question is which one do you feel has more "meat" as far as a rhetorical analysis. At first glance I thought the arranged marriage ad might be the easiest to write about, but there's lots going on in the Britney ad too (use of colors, music, the female body as commodity, parallels to music videos, etc.)
Either video should work great for this first essay as long as you keep your focus on the rhetorical decisions made in the ad and how the ad works to share its message rather than the the ad's message itself.
