I think I will be doing my paper on Flikr, or Deviantart. These 2 communities communicate though and promote art, and the sharing of art. These are very interesting discourse communities, because the common jargon is a mix of art terminology, as well as the images themselves as a way of communication. On deviantart there is also written word art, which is a whole other way of communicating things that are not always conveyed in our society. Ok. Check them out, let me know what you think?

ReplyDeleteSo I have no idea about either of your topics, BUT I like the way the both sound. Is there a link I can go check them out at? I like the idea of the art site,with the common jargon used.Personally I dont know much about art, so i would be interested in hearing more about these "secret" creative groups. Also I dont think Im going to do WOW so if you would like its all yours. Again I like the sound of Flker more(without seeing either of them)

I think you would to able to do more on the diviant art.Good choices, I enjoy reading what you write. Can't wait to see what you come up with. And I hadn't even thought about my 1st paper and this one until you mentioned it, and then the light went on. She's right, cool.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sandra and your other peers - Deviantart sounds like a great bet for this paper. It's a more specialized and smaller community. Keep focusing on the way the group uses language, images, colors, etc. to perform their values and meet goals and to build community.
